Decentralization of the Grid
Scott Gordon, VP of Residential Sales for HelioPower will give the keynote presentation at the USGBC-IE monthly chapter meeting, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 beginning at 5:30 pm at the Frontier Project. His presentation, Decentralization of the Grid, will focus on issues relating to the Smart Grid.
What is the ‘Smart Grid’? How will it affect the way we produce and consume electricity? What are the applications driving the smart grid and the technologies that will enable it? As we’ve seen with distribution models in other industries, our electricity grid is becoming dynamic and decentralized. Energy will begin flowing in multiple directions. Large power plants will take on an increasingly smaller role as installations of grid tied solar, wind, and fuel cells begin to proliferate. What does this mean for the big utilities? What does it mean for wealth creation?
